Analysis of Real Time Data
Analysis of Real Time Data
WAAE are experts at giving you the right solution to reduce your energy costs, enabling your business to minimise its exposure to future energy price rises. Upon contacting WAAE we will book you in for an Energy Assessment with one of our solar engineers, where we use your real-time energy data to determine the viability of solar power to your business. This is a site specific monitoring procedure and assessment which is conducted at no cost or obligation to you, the client. We have a direct relationship with Western Power enabling us to purchase the last 2 years historical usage data from your site. This data is broken down into usage sections of 15 minute time frames which will enable us to simulate weather patterns at the site. We can then overlay the production of the system vs the load profile to determine the optimum system size for the site.
The Importance of Accurate System Sizing
The accurate sizing of the system is critical. If a system is sized too small the benefits will not be enough to ensure you a significant saving. If the system is too large it will not save you all of the energy produced and you will therefore over capitalise on the cost of the project in relation to the savings it will deliver.
WAAE Viability Report
Once our Energy Assessment is completed you will be presented with the WAAE Viability Report. This will contain conclusive, customised recommendations for the optimum solar power solution for your business. There are 4 key components:
- Accurate analysis of your current energy usage to determine the optimum system size
- Evaluate the site
- Review services required and determine possible infrastructure issues
- Conduct a risk assessment

Best Industry Practice
Best Industry Practice
WAAE was first Western Australian Company to be CEC Retailer Code of Conduct Approved. The code of conduct, which has been authorised by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), is designed to give consumers peace of mind when making the decision to invest in a solar system by helping them select a quality retailer.
WAAE projects are an example of the Solar Energy Industry for Industry Best Standards AS 3000, AS5033, AS 4777. We adhere to strict Australian industry standards and codes of practice to ensure that all procedures comply with the relevant state and federal legislation. This benchmark is considered by WAAE as a ‘minimum’ acceptable level for workmanship and design. We have implemented industry leading strategies including exceeding quality standards and continue to build upon our detailed knowledge of solar PV system performance under varying climatic (irradiation and temperature) and shading conditions. Presentations at CEC Clean Energy Week 2013 and 2014 have used examples from WAAE projects to highlight best industry practice for installation methods.
As a testament of our commitment to providing quality of service and our commitment to safe work practices, we are also accredited with the ‘five ticks’ standards for AS/NZS ISO 9001 (Quality) and AS/NZS 4801 (Health & Safety).
Monitoring and Maintenance
Monitoring and Maintenance
WAAE offer comprehensive ongoing monitoring and maintenance to help clients get the most out of their solar generation plant and the most out of their energy saving opportunities. Maintenance is essential to ensure production values are met and the system performs over a long period of time and offsite monitoring alerts us to any issues that may arise. These services are readily available to ensure your system performs at optimum levels.
The monitoring ensures the commercial solar system is working at all times and gives our customers reassurance that any interruptions are minimized. The main benefits are:
- Daily Production Values emailed to our office
We have a dedicated person cross referencing daily production values from other sites in your area, to ensure the system is working to its optimum.
- Monthly Analysis against the design production values
When you purchase a commercial solar system we estimate the production figures monthly, when the system is operational we then cross reference the design figures against the actual production figures. This gives peace of mind that the system will reach the desired ROI.
- Email Alerts if an inverter is switched off
If any of your inverters are switched off either by someone or if one inverter goes into fault mode we will automatically receive an email about the interruption to the production of the solar system. This is invaluable as it minimizes any down time of your solar system ensuring the ROI is maintained.

Clean Energy Council Approved
Clean Energy Council Approved
WAAE was the first WA solar company to become a Clean Energy Council (CEC) Code of Conduct Approved Retailer. The Clean Energy Council Solar PV Retailer Code of Conduct is a way for solar businesses to show their commitment to responsible sales and marketing activities and solar industry best practice. It is a voluntary scheme for retail businesses selling solar PV systems to households and businesses who meet the stringent criteria of the code. Authorised by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the code aims to lift the bar higher than the minimum requirements set by government and regulations and bring about a better standard of service within the solar industry. When clients deal with a Clean Energy Council (CEC) Code of Conduct Approved Retailer they:
- Receive assurance that the company has gone through a rigorous process to become an Approved Solar Retailer.
- Receive a standard minimum warranty period of 5 years on the whole PV system.
- Receive detailed information on the process between system installation and network connection.
- Gain peace of mind that the company will adhere to all existing legislation and regulations and that its sales representatives will act ethically and not engage in any dishonest or misleading tactics.
When you buy solar from a Clean Energy Council Approved Retailer, you can be assured that you are buying a quality product from a company that follows all relevant consumer protection laws and is prepared to back the operation of your solar PV system for at least five years.
20 Years Experience
20 Years’ Experience
WAAE began with a desire to install high quality durable solar installations for residential properties and commercial entities with the intent to reduce client energy costs and reduce the carbon footprint of WA.
Prior to the establishment of WA Alternative Energy, the principal, Simon Barclay, developed keen interest in clean energy and its environmental benefits while managing his electrical contracting business. After recognising it as a gap in the local solar PV retailer’s market at the time, he sought to develop a company whereby the CEC Accredited solar designers and installers were also licenced electricians and electrical contractors, as opposed to the trend of using unqualified labour for the installation and subcontracting electricians for grid connection processes. As a result, every stage of our projects including energy assessments, design, installation, commissioning and post installations services are handled in house, by qualified personnel, with no need for outsourcing.
As experienced Electrical contractors and CEC accredited PV system designers and installers we have extensive experience in managing the technical, regulatory, commercial and, where applicable, government funding requirements associated with large scale PV applications. Our company has developed a strong reputation for integrity, efficiency and quality workmanship. We place high value on our industry networks and work hard to maintain and strengthen these relationships.
You can have confidence in the fact that you will always know who you are dealing with throughout our entire process and trust in the high level of expertise that we provide for every service and recommendation.
