Project Details

Sportspower engaged WA Alternative Energy to perform a detailed Viability Report to determine how they could reduce the energy consumption costs for their business. Sportspower wanted to both reduce its electricity consumption and try to reduce its ongoing increasing costs from its retailer. It was determined a 15 kW solar energy system was the best fit for the site.

The 15kW solar energy system was built on the building. The system will reduce the electricity consumption from the grid by 65% and reduce their electricity costs by 65%.

We initially contacted Simon Barclay at WA Alternative Energy to assess our power usage and potential benefits of installing solar panels for our store. We found Simon to be very knowledgeable and thorough with his appraisal and we were happy to invest for the long term with solar power. 15KW capacity (60 panels) installed in November 2012 with estimates indicating it would pay for itself in 5 years. In the 8 months since installation, our daily usage has reduced from between 39% in the cooler months to 52% in the hotter months. Early days, but so far we are very happy with these results. Simon has also called on us numerous times since installation to check on the equipment and performance. From our perspective, it is great to deal with a person/business who is both professional and takes pride in the quality of the work that they undertake.
