Arimia is a boutique vineyard and winery located in the famous Margaret River region of Western Australia. Situated to the north of Margaret River, Arimia has taken advantage of a diversity of soils and fruit to establish itself as one of the most unique and innovative wine producers that the South West has to offer.
Set amongst a stunning backdrop of the ocean and the tree-tops, Arimia provides a warm and inviting cellar door experience.
Striving to do things slightly differently, Arimia has committed to adopting sustainability practices throughout their operations. From using recycled timber to construct the cellar door, to utilising water from dammed creek lines, to establishing a garden to supply the restaurant with fresh produce and eggs, the Arimia team place a strong emphasis on minimising environmental impacts.
One of the most significant steps towards sustainability is the implementation of a solar energy system.
Project Details
West Australian Alternative Energy was approached to design and install a stand-alone power station for Arimia Winery in a project which aimed to generate power for the office, Cellar door and restaurant. This project was designed and installed to comply with all current regulations including AS3000, AS4509, AS5033.
Solution
A 25kW AC coupled solar energy system with both Battery storage and a Diesel Genset was designed and built. The system is fully automated, and the genset is controlled by the inverter chargers, meaning depending on the current activities of the winery the electricity supply is guaranteed.
