Voyager Estate
100KW Margaret River, WA
Roof Mount, Grid Connected, Remotely Monitored
Located in Steven’s Valley in the Margaret River Wine Region, Voyager Estate Winery is surrounded by manicured gardens, is home to a state of the art wine room, restaurant and houses Australia’s biggest underground barrel cellar.
Voyage Estate was settled here because it had the ideal characteristics to create wines that are at home amongst the world’s best. Its geology is the oldest in Australia and the gravel soils, microclimate, aspect and consistent maritime influence make up the foundations of the distinctive Voyager Estate style.
Every feature of the Estate is designed to give you an inspirational experience. The perfect combination of food, wine and the warmth of family and friends is what a visit to Voyager Estate is about.
Project Details
Voyager Estate engaged WA Alternative Energy to perform a detailed Energy Assessment to determine how substantially they could reduce their energy consumption costs for their business. Upon completion of the Energy Assessment, WAAE produced a site specific Viability Report outlining the best solution for their needs, accurate analysis of current energy usage, site and infrastructure evaluation and projected savings. As Voyager Estate wanted to both reduce its electricity consumption and try to reduce its ongoing increasing costs from its retailer it was determined that a 100 kW solar energy system was the optimum solution for the site.
Solution
The 100kW solar energy system was built on the winery buildings. The buildings face east/west and WAAE recommended a bold move of facing the modules north using a tilt frame. This resulted in an increase in production of the solar energy system by 20%. The site has now reduced its electricity consumption by 15% in total.
Results – First Year Review
After one year of production the results speak for themselves: Voyager Estate have reduced their electricity consumption from the grid by 31% and reduced their electricity costs by 41%.
We were very pleased with the service offered by West Australian Alternative Energy, from initial consultation to final commissioning the entire process was trouble free, delivered on time and on budget. The professionalism shown by Simon and the team and the quality of workmanship was of an exceptionally high standard. I would definitely recommend WA Alternative Energy to any business looking to reduce their energy costs with a solar installation.
